IBPS PO 2022: Exam Date, Eligibility Criteria, Syllabus

The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) annually conducts a recruitment exam for the recruitment of the candidates for the post of probationary officers/ management trainees in the participating banks. Interested candidates can apply for IBPS PO 2022 by filling the online application form. IBPS will most probably release the application form in the 2nd week of August 2022. Candidates need to ensure their eligibility status before they head over to the application form.

IBPS PO 2022 will be a two-tier exam composing of preliminary and main exam followed by the interview. The preliminary exam will be qualifying in nature and only those candidates can appear for the next phase of the exam who have qualified the previous one. The exam will be conducted in online mode and candidates will get a total of 60 minutes to complete the preliminary exam and 3 hours 30 minutes to complete the main exam.

IBPS PO 2022

  • Candidates can apply for IBPS PO exam only via online mode. No printed applications will be provided by the authority in this regard.
  • Reserved category candidates can opt for preliminary exam training conducted by the authority to get an idea of the exam.
  • In order to get selected for the main exam, candidates will have to clear the sectional cut-off laid down by the authority.
  • Interviews will be conducted by the participating organizations and coordinated by the Nodal Bank in each state/ UT.
  • Shortlisted candidates will be provisionally allotted to one of the participating organization/bank subjected to the number of vacancies available in that particular bank.
  • The participating organizations under IBPS PO are- Allahabad Bank, Canara Bank, Indian Bank, Syndicate Bank, Andhra Bank, Central Bank of India, Indian Overseas Bank, UCO Bank, Bank of Baroda, Corporation Bank, Oriental Bank of Commerce, Union Bank of India, Bank of India, Dena Bank, Punjab National Bank, United Bank of India, Bank of Maharashtra, IDBI Bank, Punjab & Sind Bank and Vijaya Bank.

IBPS PO 2022 Eligibility Criteria

Given below are the eligibility criteria for IBPS PO 2022 examination-

Nationality: A candidate must either be a citizen of India or a subject of Nepal/ Bhutan or a Tibetan Refugee who came over to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India or a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Burma, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Age criteria: The age of the candidates must fall between 20 years and 30 years as on 1st August 2022. Candidates belonging to reserved category can claim relaxation in age as per the rules.

Educational qualification: Candidates should hold a valid graduation degree in any discipline from a recognized university.

IBPS PO 2022 Application Form

Candidates can apply for IBPS PO exam by filling the online application form available on the official website only. Before that, they should keep their documents along with the scanned photograph, left thumb impression and signature handy. The application form will include the details such as name, email id, mobile number, father’s name, religion, gender, category, educational information to name a few.

Candidates should provide these details correctly since if at any stage the information given by the candidates is found to be misleading or incorrect, then such candidates will be disqualified from taking the exam in future too. Candidates should make changes in their application before the final submission as no correction window will be provided by the authority for such purpose. The form should be submitted on or before the due date specified by the authority. Incomplete applications or those received without the application fee shall be rejected.

Application fee

Candidates belonging to SC/ST/PWD category need to pay Rs. 100/- as the application fee for the exam. For rest of the candidates, the fee to be paid for IBPS PO exam is Rs. 600/-. Candidates can pay the stated application fee via online mode i.e. credit card, debit card, internet banking, IMPS, cash cards, mobile wallets.

Candidates can note down the exam pattern given below to know the structure of the exam-

  • Exam mode: Online
  • Duration: 1 hour for Preliminary exam and 3 hours 30 minutes for main exam

  • Negative marking: Penalty of 0.25 marks will be levied in case of marking the incorrect answer.

IBPS PO 2022 Syllabus

Given below are the topics that the candidates need to study under the IBPS PO 2022 syllabus-

  • English language: Cloze test, Para jumbles, reading comprehension, fill in the blanks, error finding, vocabulary, antonym, synonym, word meaning, sentence correction, sentence rearrangement etc.
  • Reasoning and computer aptitude: logical reasoning, alphanumeric series, coded inequalities, seating arrangement, puzzle, computer architecture, language, input-output devices, MS word and Excel, keyboard shortcuts, hardware and software, operating system etc.
  • General/ economy/ banking awareness: Current affairs, banking news, sports and awards, books and authors, static GK, etc.
  • Quantitative aptitude: Percentage, average, simplification, profit and loss, quadratic equation, problem on ages, data interpretation, boats and stream, number series, etc.

IBPS PO 2022 Admit card

  • The admit card for IBPS PO 2022 can be downloaded from the official web portal of IBPS i.e. ibps.in.
  • Separate call letters will be generated for different phases of the exam.
  • Candidates need to retain a printout copy of the admit card and keep it safe for further use.
  • Any discrepancy in the admit card should be reported immediately to the authority.
  • It is mandatory for the candidates to bring the hall ticket and a valid id proof to the exam hall without which they won’t be permitted to appear in the exam.

Result and selection

  • The result of IBPS PO will be declared on the official website of IBPS.
  • Candidates who clear the cutoff decided by the authority will be eligible for next phase of the exam.
  • Those who are shortlisted in the main exam will be called for interview organized by the participating organizations in each state/UT.
  • To qualify the interview round, candidates need to secure minimum 40% marks (35% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates).
  • On completion of the interview, selected candidates will be provisionally allotted to one of the participating bank based on their overall merit.
